Ceremony Services

Blogging is rather new to me, so please forgive me if I don't post often enough. But I wanted to share a couple things regarding the Service Professionals in Northern Michigan and I wanted to talk about Wedding Ceremony services.

Our friends at Stafford's Perry Hotel
In our business as Wedding Disc Jockey specialists, we see and meet a lot of the Food and Beverage service professionals. In the Little Traverse Bay area, it seems that the level of service is second to none. Many of the folks we run into at weddings have been trained or worked at one time or another for the famous Stafford's Hospitality Group. As these professionals have moved on from the Stafford's organization, they've taken their experience and training with them... and they are all fantastic! We've worked very closely this year with a stand out company called Sweetwater Catering. Matthew and his staff are terrific and we look forward to the coming seasons working with them.

Here's the thing... the food and beverage service Professionals and us (as DJ's and Emcees) need to work closely together and be on the same page. Timing is crucial to a kitchen staff and communication and planning are extremely important when it comes to feeding 300 people at your wedding reception.

One of the things that we here at Pluister Entertainment have been focusing on is Wedding Ceremony Service. We get a large number of requests for a sound system and microphones on the beach or back-yard or even remote locations. I've trained our staff to meet the needs of our clients with regards to Ceremony services.
Groom singing Bride's Processional

Here are a couple examples: DJ Sammy K and I served a couple this season from Texas at the Inn at Bay Harbor. The groom and his family were musicians and the groom wanted to sing the processional for his Bride. Sam and I set up a small sound system on the beach and sound checked with the groom singing over his backing instrumental track. We had other microphones set up for another couple who were doing a reading and another singer and backing track. Our sound system has some effects for vocals like reverb and echo. We brought a little effect onto the voices and everything sounded outstanding.

Battery Powered Sound System
Another example: My daughter, Lindsay and I served a nice couple for their wedding Ceremony on the beach in Ponshewang. We had no access to a power outlet, so I brought my battery powered sound system and microphones. The couple and I planned their prelude music, had the perfect song for the Bridesmaids to walk to and an amazing edit of "True Companion" by Marc Cohn for the Bride's entrance. The self powered sound system worked perfectly with enough volume so everyone could hear.

We here at Pluister Entertainment will always attend the Ceremony rehearsal, which is typically the evening before Wedding Day. We feel that it's a very important time for us to get any final details and work out the timing of songs for procession. It's also very important for us to get to know the families and attendants. The closer connected we are to our clients, the better we are able to serve.

Wedding Ceremony service prices range from $300 - $500 depending upon your needs. Feel free to contact me directly to discuss your Northern Michigan Wedding. www.plu-ent.com

Wedding Ceremonies

The last time I blogged, I talked a lot about the fantastic weddings I've been a part of this season and I promised to talk about Blissfest Radio. http://blissfestradio.org

My DJ career started in broadcast radio... when broadcast radio was cool! I'd listen to the AM stations out of Chicago, St. Louis and New York late at night as a young man. The music and personalities that came out of my little transistor radio were like magic! So I found jobs at our local radio stations running taped programs and reading the weather report on the air. Radio changed a lot over the years and became more and more formulaic and predictable. The creativity and much of the fun was gone. So after around 17 years in the business, I decided to concentrate on my mobile DJ service and I left radio behind.

Well- that is until one of my old Program Directors called this Spring and asked if I'd like to be a part of Blissfest Radio. Our family has been supporters of the Blissfest Organization for a number of years and we truly believe in their goals and mission. http://blissfest.org  Blissfest Radio is an outlet from the greater Organization to reach around the globe on a streaming on-line music channel and spread our love of Roots music, Art and Cultural Heritage. I am proud to be a Host on the channel. It's been a little weird getting back into the 'art' of being a personality on the radio, but I've been enjoying the freedom and creativity. Take a listen and let me know what you think!

The 4th of July week here in the North half of the Mitten State was absolutely terrific! Our company www.plu-ent.com had 3 fantastic Weddings to do through-out the week, but still found time to take a refreshing rest in Little Traverse Bay.

On July 1 we served a really special couple at the Inn at Bay Harbor. They had the most beautiful day for a Wedding. They were originally from the Philippines and had family come in from all over the world for their celebration. A Video crew out of Grand Rapids (Coastline Productions) had some super cool cameras shooting the entire evening.

On Friday the 5th, Lindsay and I served another couple with Ceremony Service on Crooked Lake in Ponshewang. Then went to the Little Traverse Bay Golf Club for a super fun reception. The Maid of Honor and Best Man switched clothes in the Party Bus and entered the Reception in each others clothes. It was hysterical... they gave their Toasts 'cross-dressed' and the Guests loved every minute!

Saturday the 6th, Sam and I were on the Veranda at Stafford's Perry Hotel again. The Wedding Ceremonies we've done there this year have sounded outstanding. As usual, the family and guests had the time of their lives Celebrating!

The whole family is heading to BlissFest this weekend for a musical vacation. Cheers until next time!
